2024 Kia Sorento Hybrid, Changes, Engine – Thanks to a few minor updates for the new model year, the 2024 Kia Sorento is one of the top midsize SUVs in the United States. Similar to its bigger sibling, the Telluride, three rows of seats crammed into a small area. This makes it different from the Chevrolet Blazer, Ford Edge, and Hyundai Santa Fe, some of its closest competitors. However, most midsize cars don’t try to fit seven people because the third row is often uncomfortable for adults.
To save money on a smaller, more practical model, many purchasers are willing to sacrifice quality. The Sorento has a turbocharged four-cylinder engine that can fit seven people, but it seems to be in high gear with its 281 horsepower.

2024 Kia Sorento Redesign
Even though it was a brand-new model last year, the 2024 Kia Sorento has already undergone modifications to remain competitive. The S and higher trim levels feature a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, but the SX Prestige includes 14-way power front seats with memory and a thigh extender. The rear captain’s chairs are also heated on the most costly variant.
For instance, the X-Line S trim combines the X-features line and the AWD capabilities of the S trim. The exterior has matte external trim, distinctive bumpers, a bridge-shaped roof rack, and unique branding. The X-Line EX is not different. The X-Line is now available in a new gray hue dubbed Wolf Gray.
Interior
Kia automotive interiors are usually unique and pleasant. Consequently, the Sorento’s interior quality should not be unexpected. Even though the lower trims are manufactured from cheaper materials, they do not have a cheap feel. On the other hand, the leather designated for more costly models provides an air of sophistication to the vehicle’s interior. In addition to the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, the basic model’s eight-inch touchscreen contributes to the vehicle’s high-tech and sophisticated appearance. A panoramic sunroof could be added to the car to make it more comfortable for people in the third row.
The cabin seats may be configured in either a 2+3+2 or 2+2+2 configuration. Larger three-row SUVs can seat up to eight people, but this vehicle can only accommodate seven. Adding a third row of seats to a midsize car is an intriguing concept, and although many consumers will appreciate the increased convenience, the rear baggage capacity is restricted. However, with 41.7 inches of legroom in the second row and 29.6 inches in the rear seats, the third row is about as spacious as you would expect. As a result, they should only be used by the youngest of toddlers.
Engine
Providing gas for the entry-level model of the heater The Sorento’s 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces just 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission may power the front wheels or all four axles. The engine sounds out of place in a three-row SUV, while not being underpowered. This is especially evident when the Sorento is full with passengers and/or baggage. To put it bluntly, the transmission is, at the very least, rather good. This engine is replaced in the EX with a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. Dual-clutch 8-speed transmissions send power to either the front wheels or all four wheels on X-Line vehicles.
The Sorento HEV is powered by a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. It raises the engine’s output by 59 horsepower and 195 lb-ft with a 1.5-kWh battery. It has 227 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Due to the initial boost in torque, the HEV feels as nimble as the original four-cylinder despite its greater weight. The bigger 13.8 kWh battery of the PHEV produces a total of 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Due to its high weight, the Sorento Plug-In Hybrid does not feel significantly better despite its increased power. Both hybrid vehicles use a six-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment.
