Kia Sportage Hybrid 2024 Model, Release Date, Specs – The current model of Kia’s small crossover SUV, the Sportage, has grown in size and features. The Hyundai Tucson, Toyota RAV4, and Ford Escape, all of which have five seats, are competitors to the Kia Sportage, which comes in hybrid and off-road versions. The 2024 Kia Sportage manages to outdo some of its competitors by dressing down.
It’s not trying too hard, which makes it so appealing to us. We give it a seven because of both the inside and exterior design. The long wheelbase and small overhangs contribute to the Sportage’s sporty, poised posture. The fast roofline draws the silhouette back toward its heels like an excellent pair of sports shoes. It’s clean and straightforward, with no aesthetic bloat to speak of.
2024 Kia Sportage Redesign
Only a few alterations are made to the 2024 Sportage because it’s scheduled for replacement next year. There is now a Nightfall Edition for the Sportage S and a power sunroof for the EX. A lot hasn’t changed in the 2024 Kia Sportage LX and SX Turbo trim levels. The Sportage’s svelte look hasn’t changed much over the years. Even though it’s well-built and has a large touchscreen for entertainment, its slender silhouette resembles our beloved high-top sneakers, and the cabin makes us wish it had more oversized windows and a better view of the outside world. A 181-horsepower inline-4 engine powers most Sportage crossovers.
As a result, the 6-speed automatic transmission and optional all-wheel-drive make it seem almost lazy. Still, we’d rather have the 240-hp turbo-4 than the sluggish and thirsty 240-hp turbo-4, but the sticker price makes us squirm. The firmer setup and larger wheels help the SX Turbo’s handling, but it falls short of what we’d call “sport.” The Sportage can comfortably seat four passengers and haul up to 60.1 cubic feet of goods when the back seats are folded flat. It’s up to you to decide what’s most important. Automatic emergency braking and good NHTSA crash-test ratings are standard on every Sportage. Still, the IIHS’s algorithm is more erratic, awarding the Top Safety Pick distinction to just the SX Turbo.
Interior
The Kia Sportage gets a seven because it can accommodate four people, including their luggage, and still have room to spare. It’s a vehicle that can execute a variety of functions simultaneously. The car’s primary job is to transport the driver and front passenger in comfort and safety. It does this with ease. The front seats on the LX and Nightfall variants of the Sportage wear casual knit fabric, while the Sportage EX and SX Turbo crossovers have leather seats. Our first choice would have been bigger cushions in the front seats, but the seats still give us enough support and can be powered in higher-end models.
The 38.2 inches of leg length in the rear seat can accommodate most long-legged people, but the head room is on the small side. There’s no room for three large adults without a shoehorn and a few blue words. The cargo area may be increased from 30.7 cubic feet to 60.1 cubic feet with the folding back seats, and the load floor isn’t too high. Even if the inside of the Sportage is well-done, both of the available engines may sound strained when driven close to their redline limits.
Engine
Not very, at least not with the factory-installed 2.4-liter inline-4. To get the job done, it generates 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque, which are then sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automated transmission. Engine noise isn’t very polished, but it doesn’t penetrate into the cabin to an excessive degree. The Sportage SX Turbo’s 2.0-liter turbo-4 produces 240 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Through the same 6-speed automatic, it adds a third more power. In front-drive configurations, the torque pulls the steering wheel backwards as the vehicle delivers its power with a thud.
2024 Kia Sportage Release Date and Price
In comparison to the previous year, the new Sportage LX costs $27,205 up front, including a $1,215 delivery fee. All-wheel drive costs $1,800. The LX, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, and X-Line are now available, as are the X-Pro and X-Pro Prestige, two new off-road options. AWD is standard on the X-Line and X-Pro versions. At $38,005, the Sportage X-Pro Prestige is the most expensive model in the series.
