New 2024 Kia Sorento Engine, Price, Release Date – Compared to the Hyundai Santa Fe and other popular family wagons like the Ford Explorer and Lexus RX, the third-row seats in Kia’s new Sorento are significantly smaller. Even though the extra seats aren’t shown on the spec sheet, the 2024 Kia Sorento performs better with a hybrid powertrain and a five-seat arrangement.
2024 Kia Sorento Redesign
The 2024 Kia Sorento will get a plug-in hybrid drivetrain this year. Most models now include a 10.3-inch touchscreen and rugged-looking X-Line add-ons as standard equipment. At first glance, we were taken aback by the new Sorento’s looks. This SUV stands out from the crowd because of its metallic accents and razor-mesh grille. We get that, but we’re baffled by the dashboard’s cluttered, video game-inspired design.
A more enjoyable experience is had in the Sorento, although the 191 horsepower of the base four-cylinder engine isn’t going to thrill you. The 281-horsepower turbo-4 engine in this vehicle can accomplish this goal but at the cost of increased engine noise. Because of its 227-horsepower hybrid engine, we offer it our mark of approval. New plug-in hybrids will consume less fuel and perform better in exchange for a higher price. We can’t wait to get behind the wheel of these and see how they perform.
Four people may comfortably ride in the Sorento. However, the theater seats seven, and the middle and back rows are best reserved for special occasions. Second-row chairs may be moved forward and backward on a track, whereas the front-row bucket seats cannot be moved. All Sorentos come equipped with plenty of cargo, small-item storage, and USB ports in the front seats of some models.

The Sorento, according to Kia, can seat seven people. Four of them can be full-size if that’s what you choose. Otherwise, stick with little or medium-sized goods. Its ample luggage space and plush seats give it an 8 for comfort and utility. Seats in the Sorento’s three rows are upholstered in fabric. The Sorento’s wheelbase is 110.8 inches. This is how it works: There is a power driver’s seat and synthetic or genuine leather upholstery on all Sorento models above the LX, and most include a power front passenger seat.
The Sorento’s front seats were supportive for long-distance driving comfort, with robust bolsters and ample lumbar padding to keep the driver in an upright driving position. Passengers are surrounded by large storage bins in the console and doors, allowing them to sit comfortably free with their legs and heads. Row two has a movable bench seat or a pair of sliding captain’s chairs that give 40.7 inches of legroom. Net pockets and USB ports are available for six-footers to keep their carry-ons close at hand.
The third row of seats has just 29.6 inches of legroom and may be accessed by a button on the dashboard. This is the best option for short journeys with a small number of people, fold-down the front row of seats to increase the crossover’s storage capacity from 12.6 cubic feet to 45.0 cubic feet, or 75.5 cubic feet behind the first row. It’s a lot better than it used to be. Kia hasn’t made any changes to the Sorento’s fit and finishes for the 2017 model year. Even the most costly versions may be obtained with more abrasive materials and louder engines. They looked like they were more robust and sumptuous in the previous iterations.
Engine
However, due to time constraints, we could not test the normal 191-hp inline-4, which accounts for the majority of its sales. The superb powerplants in each of the final three options make them all viable choices for us. Using the Sorento’s Sport mode, the 2.5-liter turbo-4 engine 281 horsepower may be unleashed. When driving in regular mode, the turbo-4 is disconnected from the dual-clutch transmission.
Sluggishly evolving, it can’t keep up with power transmission requirements. When driving in Sport mode, the engine may maintain low gear ratios for a longer time. The Sorento is too heavy for a turbo-4 engine to manage. When equipped with the torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system and 20-inch wheels, the vehicle’s empty weight climbs to 4,065 pounds.
The Kia Sorento Hybrid is an excellent choice for families seeking a fuel-efficient vehicle. The 1.6-liter turbo-4 and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic provide a greater net output of 227 horsepower, which makes it smoother and slower while also creating more noise. During our tests, we were able to accurately duplicate its city fuel economy in the low-forties. The plug-in hybrid intrigues us for this reason. It should be able to go 32 miles on electric power using a 13.8-kilowatt battery. The electric-only range of 32 miles should be faster than the hybrid’s own range.
2024 Kia Sorento Release Date and Price
An 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is included in the Sorento LX’s $30,665 price tag. The $36,465 Kia Sorento EX hybrid comes standard with wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, and all-wheel drive. If you want to spend more than $55,000 on your big day, it is possible, but it is not recommended.
