New Kia Sorento 2024 Concept, Interior, Price

New Kia Sorento 2024 Concept, Interior, Price – Sorento is Kia’s attempt to differentiate itself from its Hyundai Santa Fe platform-mate and some of today’s most popular family wagons, such as the Ford Explorer and Lexus RX. The fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain in lower-priced versions of the Sorento makes it better when it has five seats.

A plug-in hybrid engine will be available for the 2024 Kia Sorento this year. More X-Line accessories may be added to more models, and the 10.3-inch touchscreen is now standard on nearly all of them. The new Sorento’s design has us more perplexed than enthralled. In the past, it sported excellent SUV styling elements, but today it has metallic fillips and a razor-mesh grille in a bid to stand apart. There are a few things about this car that we’re not sure about, such as the cluttered dashboard and controls and the road-to-nowhere details.

However, the Sorento’s 191-hp, 4-cylinder engine isn’t exciting you much regarding steering and handling. It has a 281-horsepower turbo-4, but it comes at the cost of increased engine noise. The 227 hp hybrid earns our approval since it is both efficient and quick enough. As soon as the plug-in hybrid goes on sale, we’ll go behind the wheel to see if it lives up to the hype.

The Sorento has plenty of room for four people to sit comfortably. Seven seats are available on this vehicle, but anybody who sits in the middle row will understand why those seats are best reserved for special events. On some models, USB ports have been built into the front seatbacks of the second row, which slide fore and aft on tracks and provide about the same amount of support as the big bucket seat upfront. All Sorentos offer plenty of cargo space and several small-item storage options.

Interior

The 2024 Kia Sorento claims seating for seven passengers. If you choose, you may make four of them full-size and the others medium or smaller. The nice seats and enough load room get it an 8 on the comfort and utility-scale. With a wheelbase of 110.8 inches and a length of 189.4 inches, the standard Sorento is equipped with three rows of cloth-covered seats. All models above the Sorento LX have a motorized driver’s seat, as well as synthetic or genuine leather upholstery.

For long-distance comfort, the Sorentos we’ve driven had supportive front seats with a decent mix of firm bolsters and adequate lumbar cushioning. The driving position is also excellent. Almost everyone can fit comfortably in the front, thanks to the vehicle’s generous amount of head and legroom and the console’s and doors’ spacious storage compartments. 40.7 inches of legroom and a sliding bench seat or two captain’s chairs allow six-foot-tall individuals to sit next to one another comfortably, with net pouches and USB connections accessible for their carry-ons.

Only 29.6 inches of legroom is available in the third row, which is accessed through a pushbutton. It’s best suited for small groups and brief vacations, nothing more. Even better, you can fold it down to increase the crossover’s 12.6 cubic foot storage capacity to up to 45.0 cubic feet behind the back seats, or up to 75.5 cubic feet behind the front row, depending on your preference. This time around, Kia hasn’t improved the Sorento’s quality. Even on the most expensive models, the inside is dominated by hard plastic, and the engines are noisier. Earlier iterations had a more solid and opulent feel about them.

Engine

However, we haven’t tested the 191-hp inline-4 that makes up the majority of the vehicle’s output, despite the fact that it accounts for a significant portion of sales. We’d recommend any of the three other options based on the performance of that powerplant in similar models. To get the Sorento moving from a standstill, you’ll need to choose Sport mode in the Sorento’s drive mode choice. When in Normal mode, the turbo-4 and its dual-clutch gearbox don’t work well together at low speeds.

It moves slowly and does not respond quickly enough to requests for transferring power. Sport mode clears up any lingering uncertainties in the engine gearbox and allows it to retain lower ratios for longer. In spite of the turbo-4, the Sorento is still a hefty 3,979 lb at the base, rising to 4,065 lb with the optional torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system and 20-inch wheels on board.

In terms of family-friendly efficiency, the Sorento Hybrid is more suited. In addition to being quieter and smoother than the more powerful Sorento, it also has a 1.6-liter turbo-4, electric motors, a battery pack, and an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. As far as city fuel efficiency goes, we’ve been able to match the low 40s on test drives. With its 66.9-kW electric motor and 13.8-kwh lithium-ion battery, the plug-in hybrid should accelerate faster than the hybrid alone can, and it also promises 32 miles of electric driving.

The $30,665 Sorento LX has a lot to offer: cloth upholstery, three rows of seats, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. We prefer the $36,465 Sorento EX in hybrid trim, with wireless smartphone charging, a panoramic sunroof, and all-wheel drive. It’s feasible to spend more than $55,000—but don’t.
